What Are Tag Clouds?

Tag clouds are visualizations of term frequencies. A tag cloud allows you to see common terms in a text by grouping like terms together and emphasizing frequent terms.

Using the Tag Cloud Tool

Almost any text can be used to create a cloud. You can try the Tag Cloud tool by typing or pasting text into the input box or providing a URL for a public Web site.

The Tag Cloud tool generates the cloud by removing punctuation, calculating term frequencies, and selecting the font sizes to display. The terms are presented alphabetically in a paragraph-style display.

The tool provides options for grouping similar terms and for ignoring common words. You can also control the font colors and the number of terms to display.

Print & Save your Tag Cloud

Once created, your cloud can be printed or saved by using the ”Print/Save” button.

  • To Print : select Print from your browser's File menu.
  • To Save: select Save As or Save Page As from your browser's File menu.
